For a good laugh I recommend Cregga's questioning of Boorab the hare over the potato and leek turnover, and also Cregga’s wordplay at Mehra’s hastily arranged talent contest. the characters came to life, and some bits made me laugh out loud and weep. it's listed as a children's book, but I’m 42 and still enjoyed it. i found the story very engaging, the story of Tag, aka Deyna, with his spirit still of Redwall, even though he knew nothing of it, plus the trouble at redwall, the grief felt by Filorn and Mehra expertly handled by badger mum Cregga, and how Cregga gets Mehra to stay physically close to her. i wanted to find out what happened to Cregga and had to skip Marlfox as it's not on audible, so went for this book. I had listened to many of the Redwall books and completed the long patrol. When you're from two different worlds, can your hearts meet somewhere in the middle? Or do happily-ever-afters only exist in fairy-tales? I didn't expect to have my whole life turned upside down. I didn't expect to fall in love with him. Yet uncovering Viktor's secret was only the first step. He is Viktor of House Nordin, His Royal Highness, The Crown Prince of Sweden. Beneath his quiet, enigmatic gaze and cocky charm, is a man who is running away from who he really is. But soon I discovered the truth behind Viktor's façade. At first I thought Viktor was just your average businessman passing through, albeit obscenely handsome, six-foot-five, blue-eyed, and mysteriously rich. Then a fateful encounter literally brought Prince Charming to my doorstep. That was even more apparent when a senseless tragedy took the lives of my parents, forcing me to become the sole guardian of our dysfunctional household at the mere age of twenty-three. Growing up poor in small-town California as the oldest of six siblings, I knew I would never ride off into the sunset with anyone. But that’s all changing, thanks to a brand-new restoration that will soon hit theaters and eventually be available for Blu-ray consumption. Fans of Tarr can thank Arbelos Films, which worked with the Hungarian Filmlab to restore the film from its original 35mm camera negative. It’s also one that’s rarely seen, thanks in part to that 439-minute length (not so appealing for many theaters) and a very brief home video release (many fans have been forced to watch it on VHS bootlegs). And while many of its basic elements - its length, its style, its subject matter - might sound prohibitive, the wide-ranging study of life in a rural village (and then, later, out of that village) during the final days of Communism is one of cinema’s most fascinating and immersive films. As far as black and white Hungarian dramas that push into the eight-hour running-time range, Bela Tarr’s epic “Sátántangó” doesn’t have much in the way of competition. Why do I feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulder? Why I feel like when people close to me are sad, I automatically feel sorry and sad for them? I need to know why “strange” people are drawn towards me. I need to understand why I think this way. I once told myself, I can not just let this drown me. Stories that is s surreal that when you hear it, you probably wouldn’t believe me. And a stash of hard-cover and paper back books about self-help here at home. I have a library of kindle and ebooks about all sorts of self-help, psychology, and other books that I feel like speaks for me. I love books about self-help and those general knowledge books (e.g encyclopedia, atlas). I do really like books that will give me information that I can use for my everyday life. Maybe novels are not for me (for now at least). I struggled finishing “The Alchemist” and other novels that we have here at home. I am not a big fan of reading novels and short-story books. I don’t think I am a hardcore book-worm but I do love books. I don’t know if there is a standard process when reviewing a book so I’ll just write it based on how I think I should write it. This is the first book I will review and post publicly. |
